About The Position

Gerber Med Surg is a 13-bed unit, with 4 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The unit is currently undergoing renovations to improve the patient and staff experience, including new paint, flooring, and artwork in patient rooms and hallways, as well as an updated nurses' station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg serves a large patient population and is a vital part of the hospital. The unit offers telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care, with palliative care services coming soon. Advanced diagnostic services like MRI (6 days a week), CT, and fluoroscopy are available on-site, along with general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers. A key focus for the Gerber team is maintaining high-quality local care.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
• Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
