About The Position

The RN works on the 32-bed couplet-care Mother-Baby Unit at Beaumont, Dearborn, which averages 4,300 deliveries annually. The unit provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, lactation consultants, educators, social workers, and other personnel.

Under the ANA scope of practice and the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge while incorporating patient- and family-centered care principles. The RN provides quality care in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures, partners with patients and families to include their input and goals in care planning, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

The position is based at Dearborn Hospital and is full-time, working nights for 36 scheduled hours per week. Hours are 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., days vary, and the weekend frequency is every other weekend.

Requirements

• Associate degree or diploma in nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within five years for new graduates or nurses with less than one year of experience.
• Graduates from a non-accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute-care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health-care role, and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required; new graduates must obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within six months of hire or transfer.
• Applicants must have at least six months of RN experience in Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery, or Gynecology; alternatively, RNs with at least one year of recent acute-care RN experience will be considered.
• Graduate nurses may be considered with Mother Baby Care Nurse Tech/Extern experience or Mother Baby Care immersion/preceptorship experience.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the ANA scope of practice and nursing process.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, and discharge patients.

• Partner with patients and families and incorporate their input and goals into the plan of care.
