About The Position

The RN provides professional nursing care on Beaumont Dearborn’s 32-bed couplet-care Mother-Baby Unit, which supports approximately 4,300 deliveries annually. Working within the ANA scope of practice and under the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge while incorporating patient- and family-centered care principles. The RN partners with patients and families, incorporates their input and goals into care plans, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record. The unit’s multidisciplinary team includes nurses, lactation consultants, educators, social workers, and other personnel.

This is a full-time night-shift position at Dearborn Hospital, with 36 scheduled hours per week. Hours are 7:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.; days worked are variable, and the role includes every other weekend.

Requirements

• Associate degree or diploma in nursing required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required within five years for new graduates or nurses with less than one year of experience.
• Graduates of a non-accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute-care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health-care role, and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required, or required within 60 days of hire for a new graduate.
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within six months of hire or transfer.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years.
• At least six months of RN experience in Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery, or Gynecology is highly preferred.
• Applicants with at least one year of recent acute-care RN experience will be considered.
• Graduate nurses may be considered if they have Mother Baby Care Nurse Tech or Extern experience, or Mother Baby Care immersion or preceptorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the ANA scope of practice and nursing process.

• Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader and according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.
• Partner with patients and families and incorporate their input and goals into the plan of care.
• Develop patient- and family-teaching strategies and document education and learning in the health record.
