This is a Part-time PRN Day Shift position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Atrium Health Union. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to influence care outcomes. The position requires upholding a culture of safety, continuously evaluating outcomes, and taking action as needed. The RN may administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The role also involves pursuing professional development, completing required education, and maintaining certifications, while adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and accurate, timely EHR documentation are expected. The RN may be required to float to other units or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The position requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding principles of growth and development over the life span and assessing data reflective of patient status to identify age-specific needs.
