This is a PRN Day Shift position for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Atrium Health Union. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, with the ability to administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The role also necessitates pursuing professional development, completing required education, and maintaining certifications, while adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and accurate, timely EHR documentation are also key. The nurse may be required to float to other units or facilities within the service area to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding principles of growth and development over the life span.
