About The Position

The RN Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and oversight of a department- or facility-wide Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program. This role leads efforts to obtain and maintain accreditation and credentialing through applicable state and national governing bodies while ensuring continuous compliance with regulatory, quality, and patient safety standards. The Supervisor partners closely with clinical and administrative leadership to support program development, operational excellence, and superior patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Active Registered Nursing License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in bariatric, surgical, program coordination, quality, or accreditation-related roles strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with executive and clinical leadership in assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the designated Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program.
  • Assists with program, center, and/or service line development, including management of the accreditation process and ongoing compliance with state and national standards.
  • Maintains and oversees relevant policies and procedures, patient education materials, outcomes data collection, quality improvement initiatives, and education for staff and patients specific to the bariatric patient population, with a strong focus on patient safety.
  • Administers required Program Committee(s) and attends all mandatory meetings necessary to maintain program compliance.
  • Supports the development of written protocols and provides education to nursing staff related to rapid communication and appropriate response to critical patient findings, specifically aimed at minimizing delays in diagnosis and treatment of serious adverse events.
  • Coordinates and maintains ongoing patient tracking, data abstraction, and entry into required registries.
  • Works closely with interdisciplinary team members to ensure timely and accurate submission of outcomes data.
  • Leads quality and performance improvement activities in compliance with state and national guidelines, including criteria established by the American College of Surgeons, The Joint Commission, and CMS.
  • Supports operational needs of the Program and oversees monitoring of the effectiveness of existing processes to drive improved quality outcomes.
  • Anticipates future requirements necessary to maintain expertise in the specialty area and supports program assessment and collaboration related to business development initiatives.
  • Remains current with industry trends, innovations, and best practices related to metabolic and bariatric surgery programs.
  • Ensures all program staff maintain compliance with mandatory training requirements and credentialing standards.
