About The Position

The Med Surg Oncology unit at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital cares for a diverse patient population including oncology, gynecological oncology, bariatric services, medical disorders, women’s services (including breast surgery), perinatal loss, post-partum readmissions, and hospice patients transitioning to end-of-life care. A key component of the unit is chemotherapy administration, which is performed by chemotherapy-certified RNs. New graduates are eligible for this position. The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. They operate within the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability, while maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program
  • New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
  • Chemotherapy certification is required 8-12 months post hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
