About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in the MedSurg 1 Unit at Piedmont Eastside, focusing on night shifts. The unit serves a general adult patient population with conditions such as heart failure, blood clots, DKA, electrolyte imbalances, COVID-19, flu, pneumonia, and sepsis. It is a 23-bed acute care unit handling a wide range of illnesses and injuries with varying complexities. The role involves collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and various therapy departments. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a team player, and is interested in ongoing professional development. The unit is supported by a Charge Nurse, PCTs, a Unit Secretary (Day shift), a Unit Based Educator, and a Clinical Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • No experience required (New Graduates of a nursing program eligible)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments, including collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and health history.
  • Evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care, identifies additional information needed, and makes care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out the plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care specific to the setting, identified needs, and plan, ensuring appropriateness to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment, or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides necessary resources for achieving patient educational goals.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
