About The Position

The RN - MedSurg, Nights position is on Unit 1 at Piedmont Eastside, serving a general adult patient population with conditions such as heart failure, blood clots, DKA, electrolyte imbalance, COVID, flu, pneumonia, and sepsis, as well as some surgical overflow. This is a 23-bed Acute Care unit with a wide range of illnesses and injuries of varying complexities. The role involves collaboration with Physicians, Pharmacists, Physical/Occupational/Speech and Respiratory Therapy. The unit offers ongoing Professional Development and is supported by a Charge Nurse, PCT’s, Unit Secretary (Day), Unit Based Educator, and Clinical Manager. This position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $10K.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
