About The Position

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care and maintains professional accountability for the care of assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information, and performs duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Pittsburg is a 32-bed specialty unit that cares for acute medical-surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. The unit cares for patients preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Patient acuity varies with patient conditions.

Requirements

• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• Current RN license in the state where nursing duties are performed, or compact licensure, and compliance with all state board of nursing requirements.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.

• Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintain professional accountability for care provided to assigned patients.
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers.
• Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
