About The Position

Olympic Medical Center is located on Washington State’s beautiful North Olympic Peninsula, an area rich in recreational opportunities and natural beauty. The facility offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and a desirable Pacific Northwest lifestyle. This position is 90% FTE and works the night shift. The pay range is $40.37 - $72.25 per hour. This role is part of the SEIU 1199-RN and LPN union. Additional compensation includes shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends, as well as premiums for standby, charge, float, per diem, certification, preceptor, and San Exam. The job involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient nursing care, promoting continuity of care, and supervising licensed practical nurses, certified nurses assistants, patient care aides, and other support staff. The role requires understanding growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patients' age-specific needs. It also includes patient and family teaching, maintaining professional nursing standards, and supporting the hospital and nursing department's mission and philosophy. The position may involve emergency care and handling crisis situations, with occasional irregular hours.

Requirements

Associate’s degree required.
Current Washington State RN license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
Two years experience in a hospital setting preferred.
PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients within the facility.
Promotes continuity of care for patients on the unit, providing direct patient care as well as supervising the care given by Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurses Assistants, Patient Care Aides and other support staff.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status.
Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements concerning his or her age-specific needs.
Provides the care needed as described in the department/unit policies and procedures.
Participates in patient and family teaching.
Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Demonstrates the values contained in the Hospital and Nursing Department mission and philosophy statements.
Supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing and OMC.
Has contact with patients under a variety of circumstances and is subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
May perform emergency care and handle emergency or crisis situations.
