About The Position
Gerber Med Surg is a 13-bed unit, with 4 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, including new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, as well as a new nurses' station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg serves a large patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. The unit offers telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care, with palliative care services coming soon. Services available on-site include MRI (6 days a week), CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers. A significant focus for the Gerber team is to maintain quality care locally. Gerber Hospital has been serving the community for over 100 years, providing access to experienced doctors, advanced technology, and programs that improve well-being, emphasizing local care.
Requirements
- Associates in Nursing Required
- Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
- Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
- Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
