About The Position

The RN Med Surg position is based on the 3AB and 4AB medical-surgical units at Blodgett Hospital. The units care for a wide variety of medical conditions and diagnoses, with a primary focus on internal medicine. Nurses frequently care for high-acuity patients and have opportunities to strengthen acute-care assessment, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills in a collaborative, supportive team environment.

The nurse delivers care responsibly and accountably in accordance with American Nurses Association standards and Michigan law. The role uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation—and upholds professional performance standards. These include ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The nurse strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
