This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg unit, R7. The unit has 29 beds with private and semi-private rooms. Common diagnoses treated include Diabetes Mellitus, Cellulitis, CHF exacerbation, Infections, Gastroenteritis, Sepsis, Pain Management, Cardiac dysrhythmia, and Comfort Care. The role involves performing all unit-specific responsibilities, implementing procedures and theories, maintaining accurate documentation, completing initial patient assessments and developing care plans, implementing and modifying care plans, ensuring patient and employee safety, communicating effectively, providing constructive feedback, identifying learning needs, and fulfilling departmental competencies. The RN will receive bedside shift reports, delegate tasks to HCTs, complete basic RN patient care activities, and document according to Carle Med/Surg RN standards. The RN will also administer medications following the patient's 5 Rights and maintain patient safety through compliance with safety measures. A positive attitude is expected to promote a healthy work and healing patient environment. Promptly answering patient call lights and using critical thinking to evaluate patient condition and act on changes are key aspects of the role. Effective communication within the healthcare team is essential for collaboration, care coordination, and patient safety.
