About The Position
The Medical, Surgical, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics floor at St. Francis is a 29-bed unit dedicated to caring for a wide variety of medical surgical patients including but not limited to orthopedic, neurosurgical, gastrointestinal, and oncology. We have an interdisciplinary team that strives to provide safe and exceptional care to our patients. CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1887. Today our hospital is a regional referral center with more than 100 physicians and more than 1100 employees working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home where they can be supported by their family friends and community. As our Medical Surgical Nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, you’ll excel in your nursing career by providing care to patients admitted to our unit. Every day you will have the opportunity to build on your education and experience in specialized service lines such as cardiac, telemetry, orthopedics, neurology, critical care, surgical services, and emergency. To be successful in this role, you must have enthusiasm to help others - with a patient-first mindset. Keen assessment skills and critical thinking will support you in a fast-paced clinical environment where you will rarely experience the same day twice.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active RN license in state of Nebraska or nurse licensure compact.
- Basic Life Support(BLS) through American Heart Association

Responsibilities
- Deliver care to 4-6 patients per shift
- Administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, and chart with timely documentation
- Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging
