About The Position

Tristar Stonecrest Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Med-Surg unit in Smyrna, TN. This is a busy and dedicated orthopedic/spine unit with 54 beds, including 11 dedicated ortho/spine beds. The unit serves a diverse patient population including general medical-surgical patients, orthopedic and spine patients, trauma patients, and psych medical hold patients. The unit utilizes Meditech for documentation and is equipped with Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse ox, specialty beds, transfer equipment, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG and feeding tubes, among other equipment. The team includes unit secretaries until 8 PM on weekdays, with tech and extern availability. RN/LPN teams work together, with PCT support. The role requires at least one weekend of work within a 4-week period, with potential for blocked scheduling on a case-by-case basis. Floating is at the unit's discretion. The unit has received recognition as an ACS Certified facility, Hernia Center of Excellence, Spine & Joint Accredited, and received a Unit of Distinction Honorable Mention in 2022. The hospital was also recognized as a Leapfrog Top 100 Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for all medical-surgical patients, orthopedic and spine patients, trauma patients, and psych medical hold patients.
  • Perform general Medical/Surgical procedures and manage patient populations including post-catheterizations w/o intervention, lap appy/chole, thoracentesis/paracentesis, special procedures performed by IR, dedicated Spine and Joint Unit, stable traumas, HD/peritoneal dialysis, CBI, etc.
  • Utilize Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse ox, specialty beds, transfer equipment, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG and feeding tubes.
  • Document patient care using Meditech.
  • Work as part of an RN/LPN team with PCT support.
  • Float within the unit's discretion.
