About The Position

This healthcare facility is a comprehensive provider offering a range of services including: 492 Beds, Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center. The Registered Nurse (RN) will be expected to demonstrate excellence in patient care through professional nursing practices. Staff will be assigned to a home unit on the first day of orientation and must adhere to patient care standards with an emphasis on high-quality outcomes. Patient ratios are typically maintained at 1:4 to 1:6, with an emphasis on comprehensive care including patient turns, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), and high-quality care expectations given the lower patient load.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • BLS certification.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • Trauma/Surgical experience.
  • Wound care skills.
  • Chest tube management skills.
  • NGT insertion and care skills.
  • IV skills.
  • Medication administration/documentation skills.
  • Trach care skills.
  • PEG tube care skills.
  • Colostomy/ostomy care skills.
  • Surgical site care skills.
  • C-Collar management skills.
  • Abdominal binder application skills.
  • Restraint management skills.
  • PCA pump management skills.
  • Dressing change skills.
  • Foley insertion skills.
  • Central line dressing change skills.
  • Experience with Cerner EMR (EPIC experience considered).
  • Experience with Plum 360 IV Pumps.
  • Experience with Omnicell medication dispensing.

Nice To Haves

  • Chemotherapy administration certification.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellence in patient care through professional nursing practices.
  • Adhere to patient care standards with an emphasis on high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive care including patient turns, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Perform trauma/surgical care, wound care, chest tube management, NGT insertion and care, IV skills, and medication administration/documentation.
  • Manage patients with conditions such as CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, and angiogram.
  • Administer chemotherapy (preferred but not required if certified).
  • Manage patients with orthopedic and spine conditions including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies.
  • Manage patients with Urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg conditions.
  • Perform wound care, including negative pressure dressings and wound vacs.
  • Insert foleys and manage drains.
  • Perform central line dressing changes.
  • Read and measure tele strips; interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours.
