About The Position

The RN Med Surg nurse provides hands-on, diverse nursing care, serving as a frontline caregiver and coordinating care for patients. The role requires strong clinical skills, compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting. The nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary team members, patients, families, and appropriate care team members to support safe, effective, and continuous care.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
Current PALs certification.
At least 1 year of experience for a flex RN position.

Nice To Haves

2 years of experience in a related clinical area.

Responsibilities

Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate patient care touchpoints.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, and questions or concerns.
Prevent and treat wounds.
Monitor and carry out Joint Commission infection-control and environment-of-care requirements.
Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and a positive patient experience.
Consult with a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
Assist team members as needed.
