About The Position

We are hiring for a Med-surg Adult RN in Carbondale, Illinois. This position is for a 13-week contract on the 4 Medical unit, which is a 25-bed unit with 11 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms. The nursing ratio is 5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights, with nurses occasionally having 1 total care patient. The unit receives a wide variety of patients, with a primary focus on stroke patients (those not requiring TPA), comfort care, and hospice patients. Additionally, the unit handles various post-operative patients, including those with amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes. RNs will also care for patients with heparin drips, wound care needs, altered mental status, CIWA patients, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations. The ideal candidate will be stroke certified, able to work three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and every other holiday.

Requirements

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR/BLS Card
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• ACLS-PALS

Responsibilities

• Provide care for a wide variety of patients including stroke patients, comfort care/hospice patients, and post-operative patients.
• Administer care for patients with conditions such as amputations, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes, heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations.
• Work three 12-hour shifts per week.
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday.
