RN - Med Surg/Surgical Specialty
About The Position
Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring a registered nurse for the Med Surg/Surgical Specialty Unit at Rust Medical Center. The RN independently and safely administers prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on patient assessments and plans of care. The nurse organizes and prioritizes time according to patient condition and expected workload, identifies changes in patient status, and responds appropriately. The unit has private rooms with standard lift equipment and bedside computers that provide physicians and nurses with access to medical records at the bedside. The role emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, attentiveness to patients, compassion, optimism, and putting patients first. This is a part-time position at 0.60 FTE, or 24 hours per week, working 12-hour night shifts.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of bedside nursing experience.
- Registered Nurse license for New Mexico or a compact state.
- BLS certification required at the time of hire.
- Minimum associate degree; a degree from an accredited academic nursing program is preferred.

- Safely and independently administer prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on patient assessment and the plan of care.
- Organize and prioritize time based on patient condition and expected workload.
- Identify changes in patients’ status and act accordingly.
- Collaborate with the care team and remain attentive to patient needs.
