This is a 24-bed unit with various medical and surgical diagnoses requiring Intermediate Level of Care. The unit offers a supportive team environment with a budgeted 1:3-4 nurse to patient ratio. There is a designated Admit/Discharge nurse 7 days a week, Nursing Assistant support 24/7, and Clerical Support during peak hours. Day and Night Management support, a Unit-based educator, and Unit-based committee opportunities are also available. The unit was recognized for Top Tier Employee Engagement (Press Ganey, 2023) and has a high percentage of Specialty Certified Nurses. Certification reimbursement is offered.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
Certified in Basic Life Support
RN I <1 year
RN II = 1-3 years
RN III = 3-10 years
RN IV = 10+ years

Nice To Haves

Bachelors of Nursing preferred
Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements

Responsibilities

Collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process; provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records.
