This position participates in the care of patients under the supervision of the manager/director and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The role involves measuring and recording vital signs, identifying abnormal values, and reporting findings to medical providers. The RN will participate in clinic flow, assist with patient procedures, schedule appointments, and prepare patients for examinations. They will observe patients for signs of abuse/neglect, recognize and respond to emergencies, and perform non-complex procedures. The role also includes administering prescribed medications and vaccinations, collecting and preparing specimens, and performing point-of-care testing. Maintaining medication inventory, proper storage, and disposal of expired medications are key responsibilities. The RN will document clinical tasks, testing, and procedures in the patient medical record, complete paperwork including quality control procedures, and maintain patient privacy. Navigating the Electronic Medical Record for results and scheduling, preparing safety reports, and assisting colleagues are also part of the role. The RN will consult with and keep the clinic manager informed of clinic activities, maintain patient confidentiality, and assist with compliance to safety, environmental, infection control, quality improvement, and regulatory standards. Ensuring patient safety, maintaining a clean working environment, implementing precautions, and performing hand hygiene are essential. The RN will report safety hazards, participate in quality improvement processes, and assist in preparing clinical documentation for provider review. They may operate equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and fax machines, obtain medical records from outside facilities, and scan correspondence into the EMR. Answering and routing telephone calls promptly is also required.
