About The Position

The RN Manager for Emergency Services assumes responsibility for managing the unit in the absence of the Director. The role plans for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities, assists in developing, reviewing, and revising unit standards, and supports staff hiring, evaluation, licensure, competencies, and mandatory in-services. The posting lists schedules of evenings, 3 p.m.–11 p.m., with no weekends, and days, 7 a.m.–7 p.m. One position is based at the FSED – Blue Hills.

Requirements

• Diploma or associate degree from a professional nursing program.
• Current Virginia RN license or current multistate compact RN license with eligibility to practice in Virginia.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or ACLS Instructor, must be obtained within one year of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), or BCLS Instructor, must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or PALS Instructor, must be obtained within one year of employment start date.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Manage the unit in the absence of the Director.
• Plan for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities.
• Assist in the development, review, and revision of unit standards.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, and evaluating staff according to policy.
• Help ensure staff licensure, competencies, and mandatory in-services are current.
