About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position within a Urology Clinic, requiring 40 hours per week. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, either 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The position involves delivering direct and indirect patient care in an office setting, utilizing the nursing process, and collaborating with health team members to ensure high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, patient education, maintaining records, assisting with examinations, infection control, and supervising less skilled personnel. The role also involves ensuring adequate supply inventory and cleaning of patient rooms and equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required for RN)
  • One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required for LPN)
  • Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days (Required for RN and LPN)
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days (Required for RN and LPN)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days (Required for RN and LPN)
  • Registered Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Upon Hire (Required for RN)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Required (Required for LPN)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred for RN)
  • 1-3 years Health care experience (Preferred for RN and LPN)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate all aspects of patient care to ensure optimal health outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Instruct and educate patients and caregivers on a variety of topics including but not limited to disease management, medication use, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with care team members to efficiently manage tasks such as referrals, prior authorization, phone calls, results notification, and medication refills.
  • Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.
  • Monitor, assess, and report symptoms and changes in patient conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient's responses, conditions, and socioeconomic factors.
  • Prepare and administer medications appropriately as ordered by the provider utilizing the 5 rights of medication administration.
  • Collect and perform specified laboratory testing.
  • Adherence to infection control programs, advising and consulting with necessary personnel regarding precautions and PPE.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to less skilled nursing or other health care personnel.
  • Clean patient rooms, equipment and supplies between each use.
  • Ensure that adequate supply inventory is maintained for quality care.
  • Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Conduct specified laboratory tests.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
