About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of the patients assigned to him/her during a given period of time. The RN functions under minimal supervision and according to established policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards. The RN performs other assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
  • Current RN or LPN licensure in the state of Illinois. (May consider applicant with IL RN licensure in progress)
  • Current BLS is required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes physical assessment and patient interview according to departmental policy.
  • Implements the patient care plan through giving and delegating direct care.
  • Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessment of patient care problems to the Charge Nurse/Manager.
  • Administers safely and accurately all medications within the acceptable limits of professional judgement and policy. (following medication administration rights.)
  • Initiates, monitors and manages IV therapy.
  • Utilizes opportunities during the delivery of patient care to teach and reinforce teaching to the patient, family members, and/or significant others.
  • Reviews instructions with patient, family, and/or significant others before transfer or discharge, and sends appropriate forms.
  • Determines and delegates assignments appropriately in order that tasks are completed within an allotted time.
  • Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and/or significant others before completion.
  • Maintains knowledge of job-related duties; infection control, OSHA blood borne pathogens, TB/respiratory, protection plan, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and avoids accessing patient information in computer except on a need-to-know basis.
