About The Position

Provides professional nursing under supervision within an assigned unit, department, or specialty area, utilizing the nursing process. This position is in the Surgical/Pediatric unit and is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every third weekend, for 36 hours per week.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing education program.
Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse licensure.
Obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in an acute care setting.
In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles, and procedures used in patient care within an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Provide optimal patient care using the nursing process under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
Maintain patient records and documentation, including computer systems as necessary, to accurately record medical and nursing care.
Administer and control narcotics, medications, and IV therapies in accordance with the Licensed Practical Nurse Nurse Practice Act.
Assist with assessing and planning patient and family education and discharge needs.
Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Collaborate with a registered nurse or physician in problem-solving, including initiating, delegating, and evaluating patient-care team functions.
Promote an environment conducive to professional practice by serving as a role model and resource for other patient-services team members.
Maintain nursing-skill competencies based on current scientific knowledge.
