About The Position

Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization that offers an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders. BHA has an anticipated opening for a part-time RN / LPN for its new Pottsville Location to serve both students and staff. The primary goal is to provide healthcare to students and staff, perform health screenings, coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers, and serve as a liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Certification as an RN or LPN
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR certification
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, faculty, staff, and administration regarding student progress and needs.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written expression.

  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care.
  • Serve as consultants with other school professionals.
  • Provide health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Monitor immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety.
  • Oversee infection control measures.
  • Actively participate in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies.
  • Oversee medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans.
  • Oversee vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures.
  • Make decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance.
  • Provide health advice to school staff.
  • Assist families with locating outside care and obtaining health insurance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.
  • Provide interventions for acute and chronic illnesses, adolescent pregnancy, communicable diseases, dental disease, injuries and emergencies, mental health, nutrition, obesity, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and abuse.
  • Provide health education to students in contemporary topics such as adolescent pregnancy prevention, exercise, nutrition, oral health, parenting, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases/infections, smoking prevention and cessation, and substance use and abuse.
