About The Position

Miller’s Health Systems is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care to patients as a Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse is responsible for patients on their shift, follows each patient’s Comprehensive Care Plan, and assists the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate patient-record documentation when needed. The role also supervises direct resident-care personnel during the shift. The position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Eight- and 12-hour shifts are available on all shifts.

Requirements

• Currently licensed and registered to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Indiana.
• Successfully complete the pre-employment process and screening.
• Pass the physical examination required for employment at the facility.
• Maintain a professional manner and appearance.
• Know nursing policies and procedures.
• Know medication administration, possible side effects, treatment administration, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to resident care.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and residents’ physical, psychological, social, and medical needs.
• Understand the organizational structure and duties of employees under the Unit Manager’s supervision.
• Demonstrate competence in supervision and leadership.
• Have a caring attitude and be observant.
• Foster and maintain good working relationships with other staff.
• Exercise good judgment and emotional stability.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients on the assigned shift.
• Follow patients’ Comprehensive Care Plans.
• Assist the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate documentation in patient records when needed.
• Supervise direct resident-care personnel on the assigned shift.
