About The Position

The Clinical Nursing Educator embraces resident family centered care and models Sioux Center Health’s values of hospitality, compassion, respect & justice. They are responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, teaching, and/or evaluating education and training programs for all team members. This role is crucial in managing orientation, staff development, and ongoing professional development for both new and current team members within the Care Center. The educator provides feedback, coaching, and mentorship, ensuring documentation processes are complete and filed. They continuously develop, monitor, and evaluate programs for quality improvement and collaborate with managers and preceptors on needs and concerns. The position also involves assisting with managerial responsibilities such as training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, and resolving problems. Additionally, the role may include working the floor to cover open shifts or when short-staffed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for licensed vocational practical nurse or registered nurse.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Long Term Care preferred.
  • Current RN/LPN license in the State of Iowa.
  • Must obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire date.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills to develop/supervise staff in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and handle emergency situations with professionalism and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, teach, and evaluate education and training programs for all team members.
  • Manage the orientation, staff development, and ongoing professional development, education, and mentoring for new or current team members.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and mentorship to designated audiences.
  • Ensure orientation documentation processes are complete and filed.
  • Follow up at regular intervals to evaluate continued progress.
  • Collaborate with managers and preceptors regarding needs and concerns.
  • Continuously develop, monitor, and evaluate all programs related to orientation, professional development, education, and mentoring for quality improvement opportunities and other initiatives.
  • Make recommendations to the LTC Manager for policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day operations.
  • Organize, plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational programs, utilizing adult learning principles, various teaching/learning methodologies, and providing role modeling and leadership.
  • Assist in managerial responsibilities including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work the floor to cover open shifts and when short staffed.
