About The Position
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for an RN Clinical Educator Nursing to work with the Behavioral Health units. This hybrid role integrates the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and Clinical Mentor, delivering formal education, competency development, coaching, and individualized professional guidance to support clinician onboarding, foster evidence-based practice, promote ongoing professional growth, and advance excellence in patient care delivery.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master’s program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master’s program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following: 1. Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date 2. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 3. Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
- 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
- BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s Degree is preferred but not required
- Inpatient Behavioral Health in Acute Care RN experience.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
- Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
- Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
- Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.
