About The Position

Responsible for effective and efficient daily clinic operations for the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic. Provides nursing care for patients receiving Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for opioid addiction and is responsible for improving the care of the patient population across health, substance abuse and mental health treatment, promoting patient activation and empowerment for shared decision-making in treatment, and encouraging healthy behaviors, self-management of health, mental health, and substance abuse conditions.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Current and unrestricted Washington State Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skill in techniques of good patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinic practice management/clinic administration and operations and patient/customer relations.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.
  • Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrated skill in process improvement, planning, organizing, and change management.
  • Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of duties that require the use of independent judgment, advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates daily operations of the clinic to ensure high quality patient care is provided.
  • Constantly assesses patient flow, wait times, and schedules. Takes action to resolve delays and maximize patient comfort.
  • Leads the daily team huddle.
  • Monitors the health status, treatment progress, and medication adherence of MAT patients.
  • Provides direct medical care and support to patients, as well as medical support to buprenorphine prescribers.
  • Duties include patient screening, medical assessment, substance use assessment, care coordination and planning, education on medication use, relapse prevention, support for an individual’s self-management and referral to appropriate services.
  • Addresses and resolves operational and personnel issues as they arise in conjunction with manager.
  • Develops relationships with providers; proactively manages those relationships to facilitate provider staffing of the MAT clinic as well as providing consultation for SUD needs of empaneled patients in the ambulatory care clinics.
  • Serves as a liaison with community partners to coordinate resources, participates in the Opiate consortium as needed, and engages with community stakeholders to develop clinic capacity and referral networks.
  • Coordinates for NRT in partnership with WA DOH/Quitline.
  • Conducts motivational interviewing to patients in crisis, provides patient, family, and community education regarding OUD, recover resources, and overdose prevention.
  • Performs on-the-spot care coordination for MAT clinic patients to connect them to community resources during walk-in clinic hours and appointments.
  • Performs data collection and entry to support grant, quality improvement, and consortium initiatives.
  • Compiles and produces reports for external and internal leadership and organizations.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of nursing assessments and nursing care.
  • Leads and coaches staff in methods for improving patient engagement and satisfaction.
  • Creates and maintains staff schedules.
  • Provides coverage as needed for staff members (as applicable).
  • Participates in quality improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Develops and implements workflows and processes to enhance patient experience, increase efficiency, decrease costs, or improve daily operations.
  • Maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory changes, compliance issues, innovations and developments, through research and training/continuing education opportunities.
  • Stays abreast of trends and best practices.
  • Maintains programs and records in good order, as required for efficient and effective operations.
  • Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
