About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a RN – Labor & Delivery for an exciting Contract job based in Bronx, NY. This role involves providing direct nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The position requires comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments, administration of medications and treatments, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care. Accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and effective response to obstetrical emergencies are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current and active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • Minimum two (2) years of Maternal and Child nursing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of IV Insertion experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of Phlebotomy experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of Conscious Sedation experience.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

  • Recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Strong maternal and newborn assessment skills.
  • Experience interpreting fetal heart tracings and responding to obstetrical emergencies.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and patient education abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
  • Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments and monitor patient status throughout the labor process.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous therapies in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures.
  • Monitor fetal heart tracings and recognize changes requiring intervention.
  • Initiate and maintain IV therapy, perform venipuncture, and collect laboratory specimens as required.
  • Administer and monitor conscious sedation when clinically indicated and within scope of practice.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond effectively to obstetrical emergencies and neonatal resuscitation situations.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
