Requirements
- Active independent licensure (RN)
- 2+ years acute behavioral health or crisis evaluation experience
- Expertise in risk assessment, de-escalation, and payer authorization processes
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations on incoming patients
- Evaluate patients in acute psychiatric crisis
- Determine level of risk (e.g., suicidal ideation, psychosis, aggression)
- Implement immediate safety measures if needed
- Decide urgency of admission or need for higher level care
- Determine if the patient meets criteria for inpatient psychiatric admission
- Recommend appropriate placement: Inpatient psych unit, Partial hospitalization (PHP), Intensive outpatient (IOP)
- Collaborate with psychiatrists or providers for final decisions
- Communicate with Physicians/psychiatrists, Social workers and case managers, Emergency departments, law enforcement, or family members
- Gather collateral information to support assessment
