About The Position

The RN Instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering caregiver training programs for Home Health Aides (HHA), Personal Care Aides (PCA), and other paraprofessional staff in accordance with applicable New York State regulatory requirements and company standards. This role ensures training programs are compliant, documented, audit-ready, and aligned with organizational quality and patient care expectations. The instructor provides classroom instruction, skills of lab training, competency validation, continuing education, and caregiver development support while promoting a culture of safety, compassion, professionalism, and regulatory excellence.

Requirements

  • Active unrestricted New York State Board of Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in home care, long-term care, hospice, rehabilitation, community health, or related field required.
  • Strong presentation, classroom management, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic learning/documentation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior training, teaching, precepting, staff development, or instructor experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of New York home care regulations and caregiver training requirements is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Russian, or other community languages) preferred.
  • Experience with HHAeXchange or similar caregiver platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientation and training programs for HHA, PCA, and caregiver staff in accordance with applicable New York State Department of Health requirements and approved curriculum standards.
  • Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on skills instruction in areas including personal care, infection control, communication, documentation, patient rights, dementia care, transfers, body mechanics, nutrition, emergency response, and safety.
  • Modify instructional methods to meet varied learning needs while maintaining curriculum integrity.
  • Conduct written, oral, and practical competency evaluations.
  • Validate caregiver readiness for assignment placement through documented skills assessments.
  • Identify performance gaps and provide remediation training as needed.
  • Maintain competency records and completion of documentation.
  • Ensure training programs comply with applicable New York State Department of Health home care regulations, agency policies, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records including attendance rosters, test scores, certificates, competency checklists, in-service logs, and instructor documentation.
  • Prepare records for audits, surveys, credentialing reviews, and regulatory requests.
  • Assist leadership with corrective action plans and training-related compliance initiatives.
  • Promote professionalism, empathy, punctuality, confidentiality, and patient-centered care standards.
  • Support caregiver engagement, retention, and career pathway development.
