About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) uses the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes and planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized nursing care. In this Operating Room role, the RN works with CRNAs, APPs, RNs, surgical technologists, and surgeons to assist with invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures and help maintain a safe operating room environment. The campus has 10 orthopedic-focused operating suites and two additional suites focused on eye procedures. The RN collaborates with physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The role includes patient assessment, care planning and coordination, patient education, triage, and other nursing interventions across phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The RN practices within the applicable Nurse Practice Act, licensure requirements, and professional nursing standards. Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position includes late shifts and rotating off-site call for orthopedic trauma cases at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. Call staff must be available to arrive within 30 minutes of being contacted. The current rotation is approximately two weekday call shifts per month, three to four call weekends per year, and one holiday shift annually; this may change. After a call shift, the employee may choose to start work at 11:00 a.m. or work the standard shift. New graduates may apply.
