About The Position

Presbyterian is seeking a skilled RN responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during each shift. This role prioritizes and delivers nursing care efficiently by managing time and resources effectively while integrating a standards based framework model.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited academic nursing program (programs under conditional status may be approved by the system CNO).
  • Minimum ADN preparation.
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required.
  • Required certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.
  • BLS: All RN roles.
  • ACLS: Emergency Department, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services Pre‑Op and Recovery Room.
  • NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care.
  • PALS: Children Services, Cardiovascular Lab, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services Pre‑Op and Recovery Room.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a clinical resource by overseeing patient care, directing and delegating assignments based on acuity, staff capability, and anticipated needs.
  • Provides clinically competent direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with specialists, and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal results.
  • Coordinates patient care through collaboration with patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, primary and secondary physicians, and community programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of care philosophy and provides supportive guidance to patients and families.
  • Ensures patients understand their rights, responsibilities, informed consent, and advanced directives during the admission process.
  • Assesses patient and family teaching needs and provides education using return demonstration and appropriate teaching tools in the home setting.
  • Maintains professional responsibility for staying current with nursing research, practice standards, protocols, and organizational policies to support high‑quality care.
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of all equipment required for home health practice.
  • Communicates effectively with nursing and interdisciplinary team members; participates in problem solving and conflict resolution to support team cohesiveness.
  • Performs on‑call duties, including triage, phone support, and patient visits when needed.
  • Directs personal ongoing education related to common diagnoses such as diabetes, wounds/post‑surgical care, arthritis, newborn care, anticoagulation management, nutrition needs, medication instruction, pain and symptom control, and hospice care.
  • Supervises home health aides in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
