About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on a dynamic inpatient unit at Wisconsin's #1 hospital. The unit cares for patients across four specialties: Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, and ENT. The role involves caring for patients undergoing specialized procedures, providing patient and family education, and gaining experience in airway management. The unit offers unique challenges and opportunities to hone skills and expand knowledge, potentially preparing RNs for critical care settings.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Required.
  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience for eICU.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred.
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred.
  • Relevant Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients across four specialties: Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, and ENT.
  • Provide patient and family education following specialized procedures and surgeries.
  • Gain experience in airway management, including new tracheostomies.
  • Work as part of an innovative interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in free flap monitoring for breast reconstruction after mastectomy.
  • Provide patient and family education following urinary diversion surgeries.
