About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Clinical Care Leader (CCL) role facilitates health care services for patients receiving infusions in cooperation with the health care team. Demonstrates strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze data and appropriately respond to changing situations. Effective communication skills to collaborate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts, situations, and/or issues with peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients and families. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, clinical support staff and the public. Serves as a mentor to staff while assisting in facilitating the over-all clinic activities. Participates and may serve in leadership roles on department/organizational tasks forces and committees. Responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to infusion patients. Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, and various other nursing interventions. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in infusion care setting. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications and care provided in compliance with applicable standards/regulations. Competent in the registered nurse (RN) skills of the infusion unit. Knowledge of procedures and programs to ensure employee safety. Assumes leadership role in high-risk situations. Coordinates the clinical/unit nursing activities while adhering to Sanford Health philosophy, goals, and standards of care. Acknowledges their impact on budget and finance through staffing and ensuring safe patient care. The CCL uses critical thinking skills to collaborate and coordinate patient care and manage emergent situations, for the infusion clinical setting. Responsible to intervene when unsafe practices are identified. Responsible to make patient assignments based on employee's competencies, scope of practice, experience and patient's unique needs. Demonstrates effective communication skills to negotiate and resolve conflicts with and between peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients and families. Serves as a mentor to staff while facilitating the over-all unit activities. Participates in house-wide and/or departmental committees and assists with the coordination of the Peer Review Process for employees. Participates in active learning and development resources. The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients according to infusion department scope of service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred in Fargo, Fargo Network, Bemidji, Sioux Falls Network and Rapid City. Required in Bismarck and Sioux Falls (Sanford USD Medical Center and Clinics).
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, those accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencundered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Functions within the legal scope of practice.
