About The Position

The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA), a psychiatric hospital, is seeking experienced nurses for the RN II position. CCCA's mission is to serve children and adolescents by providing high-quality psychiatric diagnostic, evaluation, and treatment services. The Nursing Department's mission is to skillfully assess children for medical and mental health concerns during acute psychiatric care, reporting accurate information to psychiatrists for medication and treatment plans. Requirements

  • Effective communication both verbal & written.
  • Competent with TOVA, CPR and knowledge of lab values for children & adolescents.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to meet child & adolescent needs in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
  • Walking and/or standing for up to eight (8) hours or more.
  • Bending & lifting.
  • Ability to use TOVA techniques.
  • May be exposed to aggressive patients.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts and overtime hours or shifts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess children for medical and mental health concerns when admitted for acute psychiatric care.
  • Report accurate information to the psychiatrist regarding appropriate medication and treatment regimes.
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Lead educational groups.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric disorders, and the physical, psychological, and social needs of psychiatric adolescents or children.
  • Act as a resource person to communicate knowledge of the nursing process to other disciplines, community groups, and schools of nursing.
