About The Position

Piedmont Eastside Medical is a 310-bed multi-campus facility serving Gwinnett and surrounding counties. The Intensive Care Unit provides high-quality care to critically ill adult patients with varying critical conditions. This 24-bed mixed unit utilizes evidence-based best practices in caring for patients and their families. The patient populations include neurosurgical patients requiring EVD and lumbar drain management; cardiac patients requiring IABP or Impella support, STEMI and post cardiac arrest patients, patients requiring targeted temperature management, as well as patients with multiorgan dysfunction or failure requiring CRRT, as well as various other conditions requiring intensive care and critical intervention. Due to the high acuity of our patient population, education and learning are continuous. Advanced training and education are offered to develop competence with various critical support modalities. Patients and staff have 24-hour support from Critical Care Providers on site. The Nursing Leaders for the Critical Care team have over 28 years of combined nursing experience and understand the value and importance of an open-door policy.

Requirements

Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
BCLS - Basic Life Support Required

Nice To Haves

Previous ICU, Rapid Response or Code Blue experience HIGHLY preferred
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
Maintains standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
Evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the necessary resources for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
