About The Position

Join our dynamic Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, which includes a mixed unit of MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU, divided into pods. Our facility has 39 beds and focuses on providing exceptional care to complex ICU patients. Work with a diverse patient population including: Surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro, and trauma patients. Diagnoses may include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical care, and multiple system trauma. The unit is supported by CNA support, charge nurses, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and intensivists with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience (preferred).
  • If only 1.5 years of ICU experience is present, a significant amount of RN experience outside ICU is required for management approval.
  • Candidates must have at least one completed travel assignment.
  • Must reside at least 100 miles away from any local facility.
  • Must be willing to obtain required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC prior to arrival.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota.
  • Epic experience is necessary.
  • Comfortable working 48 hours per week.
  • Experience with IV medications, including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics.
  • Ability to manage hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry.
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac experience is preferred, especially with CABG/TAVR patients within 24 to 48 hours post-op.
  • Experience preferred with Impella, IABP, and CRRT.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional care to complex ICU patients.
  • Manage a diverse patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients.
  • Care for patients with diagnoses such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical care, and multiple system trauma.
  • Utilize Epic for patient care documentation.
  • Administer IV medications, including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics.
  • Manage hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry.
  • Perform critical thinking and assessment.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Potentially precept nursing students.
