About The Position

The ICU Step-Down Unit (TCU) is a 20-bed department staffed by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, nurse technicians, and ancillary staff. The TCU serves Freeman and the community by caring for patients transitioning from ICU to Med-Surge level of care. This unit manages a wide range of patient populations, including those with cardiac complications, respiratory distress, and diabetes management. Requirements

  • AHA ACLS within 120 days.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.
  • ASLS - Advanced Stroke Life Support within 180 days.
  • CardioVascular Disease CEU hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
  • If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 365 days.
  • RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
  • Stroke CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Trauma CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 365 days.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plans and implements appropriate interventions; and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.
