Assesses and manages complex lactation problems and assists the mother in attaining her individual breastfeeding goals. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team as a consultant, educator, and mentor to nurses, health care professionals and patients.

Requirements

  • International Board of Cert Lactation Consultants - Certification
  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year experience
  • Bachelor's: Nursing (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care for inpatient mother-baby couplets, and neonates.
  • Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preparation for childbirth, newborn care, sibling preparation, postpartum, and breastfeeding classes for expectant and new parents.
  • Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preceptorships, in-service programs, workshops and continuing education classes on topics related to breastfeeding management for nursing staff, medical staff, and students of health care-related fields (RN, ARNP, CNM, MD, RD, etc.) as well as staff education materials.
  • Assists in the management of the breast pump rental station.
  • Manages work flow in the perinatal education department.
