About The Position

Provides hands-on, comfort-focused nursing care to patients receiving end-of-life services in an inpatient hospice setting. The role centers on assessing and managing symptoms (especially pain), administering medications, and ensuring patients remain as comfortable and dignified as possible. The nurse also updates care plans, documents all care provided, and works closely with the interdisciplinary hospice team (physicians, aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers). In addition, they support and educate families, helping them understand what to expect and offering emotional reassurance during a difficult time. Overall, the position combines clinical skill with compassionate, holistic care focused on quality of life rather than curative treatment.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted RN license (Kansas)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
  • Ability to assess patients and manage symptoms
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Hospice or palliative care experience
  • At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience
  • BSN degree
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Hospice/Palliative Care certification (CHPN)
