The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Electrophysiology (EP)/Cardiac Device Lab supports patients and physicians in the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute’s outpatient department. This role provides specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias and implantable cardiac devices in ambulatory and inpatient settings. A caregiver in this position works Mon-Fri, from 7:30am—6:00pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • In areas performing moderate sedation procedures, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of employment
  • One year of recent experience as an RN
  • OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two years of recent RN experience
  • Cardiac experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform interrogation, interpretation, and programming of implantable cardiac devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, S-ICDs, and implantable loop recorders.
  • Monitor device function and patient status; promptly escalate urgent or abnormal findings to providers.
  • Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to patient care decisions within scope of practice, using established standards, protocols, and clinical data.
  • Collaborate with electrophysiologists and the care team to support safe, efficient patient care.
