The Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory at J2-1 is at the forefront of advanced cardiovascular care, providing expert nursing and technical support for some of the most complex non-surgical procedures in the world. Our team cares for adult patients with a wide range of cardiovascular and structural heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, valvular and congenital heart disorders, and peripheral vascular disease. Working alongside physicians and multidisciplinary specialists, caregivers in J2-1 play an important role in delivering highly specialized care across procedures such as coronary angiography and intervention, hemodynamic studies, myocardial biopsy, intravascular imaging, carotid and peripheral interventions, valve repair and replacement, and congenital heart defect closure. The team also supports advanced mechanical circulatory devices, including IABP, TandemHeart, and Impella. With state-of-the-art technology, a collaborative environment, and opportunities to care for patients undergoing complex procedures, J2-1 offers an exciting opportunity to grow your expertise while being part of a team advancing the future of cardiovascular care. When newly hired, caregivers will work a combination of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts. Following completion of training, the position includes an on-call component, with caregivers typically participating in 2–4 call shifts per four-week schedule, including both primary and secondary call responsibilities. Weekend work is not required unless assigned as part of the on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification within six months of hire
  • One year of recent experience as an RN
  • OR Licensed RN with at least two years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.
