About The Position

The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care from newborn through age 105. He/she must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings. The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Assistant Director/Director of Perioperative Services.

Requirements

  • RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • PALS certification required if working PACU.
  • ACLS certification if caring for patients having procedures with sedation.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation.
  • Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.
  • Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives.
  • Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole.
  • Works to resolves conflicts constructively and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co- worker.
  • Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts.
  • Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse.
  • Membership in professional organization desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for SDS/PACU/Endo such as assessments, obtaining patient history, critical thinking skills, notifying physician as needed, specimens, handwashing, etc.
  • Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient in his/her work area and throughout the hospital.
  • Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrates teamwork through communication, cooperation, coordination, and conflict resolution with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide continuity of care.
  • Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures, documentation, educational and procedural teaching of the patient and their significant other/parent before and after surgery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
