About The Position

This position involves consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The role includes conducting pre- and post-operative education, serving as a communication liaison, taking vital signs, ensuring correct patient and procedure identification, providing basic bedside care, and administering medications according to guidelines. The nurse will report adverse reactions, respond to life-saving situations, and accurately document all care. Responsibilities also include preparing the operating room, initiating corrective actions based on monitoring equipment, monitoring patients' well-being, and initiating patient education plans. Additionally, the role requires maintaining phone access for surgical call duties, staying within 25 minutes of NRMC while on call, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited nursing program
BLS, ACLS within 120 days of employment
Current Missouri RN license, in good standing with Missouri Board of Nursing
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
Conducts pre- and post-operative education
Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team
Takes and monitors patients’ vital signs
Ensures that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed
Provides basic, bedside care
Prepares and administers medications through all routes and records medications per policy in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse
Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
Preps operating room for patient/procedure
Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology
Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum
Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician.
Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their post-treatment home care needs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation
Maintains working phone access and agrees to take surgical call per unit needs and stay within 25 minutes of NRMC while on call.
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting
