About The Position

The Emergency Department at Pennock Hospital is a small but fast-paced level 3 trauma center with 12 beds, seeing a variety of patients with emergency medical situations such as animal bites, seizures, broken bones, drug overdose, and burns. This unit is a 13-bed Med Surg unit with overflow into ICU, is Stroke Certified, and emphasizes treating patients like family with core values of accountability, honesty, compassion, and courage. It prides itself on teamwork, collaboration, and safe personal care. Regionals offer schedule flexibility with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:5 for days and up to 1:6 on nights. Additionally, there is a 6-bed ICU unit that may accommodate Med Surg patients, is Stroke Certified, and also emphasizes treating patients like family with core values of accountability, honesty, compassion, and courage. It also prides itself on teamwork, collaboration, and safe personal care, with Regionals offering schedule flexibility and a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 for days and nights. Requirements

• Requires previous inpatient experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) – Required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required within 5 years of hire
• Michigan RN License – Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required within 90 days of hire
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, ethical, and accountable nursing care in accordance with ANA professional standards and Michigan state regulations
• Demonstrates competency using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Upholds professional performance standards including: communication, collaboration, culturally congruent care, leadership, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement
• Strives for optimal patient outcomes across all assigned units
