About The Position

Women and Children’s Float Pool provides nursing and tech support to clinical areas within Women and Children’s Hospital. Our nurses focus on the medical needs and treatment of a broad range of ages from newborn to adults. A thorough orientation is provided on Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, PICU, Women’s surgery and RNICU. Each unit has yearly unit specific competencies that must be maintained by the Float Staff. Each unit provides individual education to meet the needs of their patient population.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Current Alabama/Multi-state nursing license
BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained in the orientation period
PALS, and NRP is required within 1 year of hire
A minimum of 2 years experience is required
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
Ability to prioritize and change tasks frequently

Responsibilities

Provide nursing and tech support to clinical areas within Women and Children’s Hospital.
Focus on the medical needs and treatment of a broad range of ages from newborn to adults.
Maintain yearly unit specific competencies.
Complete department specific competencies within the provisional period.
